WHAT IS HANDIQUEERS?

We are a small collective of independent creative queers with varying skillsets choosing from an assortment of projects through the Handiqueers gig-hub. When a client submits a request for services everyone on our team has access to the information. Handiqueers with corresponding skill sets will pick up gigs, reach out to clients, and begin planning with them!

  • Conrad.

Conrad is a tinkerer, a sailor, a carpenter, and a nonbinary gender anarchist. After spending years as a laborer in the South, they came to New England in search of more favourable latitudes and attitudes. Whether they're setting boards on a new deck or turning wrench under the bonnet of an old car, there are not many things that Conrad cannot fix.

  • Becca.

Becca prides herself on fulfilling golden retriever lesbian stereotypes—knows how to use tools, won’t be caught without a snapback, and faithfully fills her fiancée’s water glass at night. She grew up learning what could be fixed around the house (basically everything), and what could not be (the economy). She is excited to put her skills to good use helping her new queer community with any project around their homes and loves the jobs that let her work with her fellow HQs!

When Becca isn’t holding up drywall on a job site or knee-deep in sawdust in her basement workshop, she is finishing her training as a psychotherapist, keeping her diabetic dog out of the snacks, and spending time with her family.

  • Kelcie.

Kelcie Hillard has been farming for the last decade at various farms, including their own, in the north Quabbin Valley. Things are always breaking on farms so Kelcie has experience with everything from trying to fix tractors to building sheds to plumbing and electrical repairs and is happy to take a crack at just about anything. Most of all they love finding elegant solutions to whatever problems come their way.

Attention to detail and clear communication are two of their top priorities, right up there with helping and supporting fellow queers to the best of their ability.

  • Rel.

Rel is excited to work on a wide range of Handiqueers gigs including landscaping, gardening, carpentry, painting, repairs and hauling stuff off to the dump. They are always up for a house project and enjoy jobs that require attention to detail as well as getting down and dirty.

This Handiqueer also drives a hawt truck.

  • Acey.

Cofounder of HQ, Acey's favorite Handiqueer gigs involve anything that allows her to get in the dirt and lift/move heavy objects from one location to another. She's always dreaming of gardening in the golden hour, basement cleanouts, and quick n' dirty moving jobs.

Because clinical skills are used most days in her mental health profession, Acey loves having to use a different assortment of muscles in her work with HQ. She'll even move an extra box of books or plant an extra bush if you ply her with strong coffee and sweet affirmations.

  • T.

Founder of HQ, this long-standing member of the service industry and queer community is here to help our LGBTQ+ frendz & neighbors get the support they need from kind & caring queer people who understand that applying good communication can make a world of difference.

With skillz, tools, and a cute little black truck - T can help with light carpentry, small building projects, odd jobs, basic repairs, and more.

Note: Does not work with/for cis het white men, however might occasionally allow them to do things for her.

  • Emma.

Purchasing, renovating, and working on their very first home in Turners Falls, MA this Handiqueer has acquired a gaggle of #DIY skills that include carpentry, fine wood-working, painting, cleaning, organizing, building custom nooks & crannies to store things in, making/fixing drawers & cabinets, yard work, weatherproofing, and sooo much more…

  • Suzanne.

This queerdo was raised in Atlanta, trained as a metalsmith and jeweler, and taught metal arts and sculpture in San Francisco for 15 years.

Suzanne has owned and worked on a number of houses in various states of repair. Recently Suzanne helped build a dream cabin in North Carolina from the ground up. During that project, she and her partner moved to an amazing place in Wendell, where Suzanne focuses on her metalsmithing and design practice as her ‘day job’.

Suzanne brings all these experiences to Handiqueers, excited to help you problem solve and make your projects happen with a close eye on craftspersonship
